about

I spent the last 3 years of my life on this mixtape.

Countless hours writing lyrics till the sun came up in San Diego, Dallas, Los Angeles, and Kansas having conversations with artists, rappers, poets, comedians, writers, actors, directors, business moguls, doctors, scientists, pimps, prostitutes, porn stars, drug dealers, the homeless, and basically every walk of life.

Every song is a portrait of a space in time where I grew and understood something new about the human condition and analyzed as many aspects of it as I could. Halfway through my writing process I took a "World Religions" class with writer Dr. Laurel Corona to gain a better understanding of how we came to develop our belief system and the creationism stories from which they came. Following her class I studied Buddhism with the monk at the Chùa Từ Quang temple to help with my ability to stay focused through meditation.

When I could finally focus my thoughts I read The Boy Who Reversed Himself, The Alchemist, 1984, Fahrenheit 451, The Tanning of America, The Tipping Point, The 48 Laws of Power, The 50th Law, The Art of War, Ender's Game, The Miseducation of the Negro, and The Time Machine.

I continued traveling the west coast, midwest, and southern parts of the United States comparing the relationships between the stories I'd read, the religions I studied, and the life choices I'd see myself and the people around make.

This is how I'd create the outline for my mixtape.

Partly inspired by songs from the musical Guys N Dolls, the bands Kleenex Girl Wonder and The Arctic Monkeys, along with the album The College Dropout I'd develop my color pallet and create what I consider to be the best depiction of life as I've seen it

And in todays instant popcorn culture I took my time with this, so hopefully you could have something you enjoy listening to.
